United States Access Board is an independent federal agency devoted to accessibility for people with disabilities.  Created in 1973 to ensure access to federally funded facilities, the Board is now a leading source of information on accessible design.

508 Tools and Resources Resource tools are provided here by the IT Accessibility and Workforce Division as a service to help implement Section 508.


The U.S. Department of Education has funded several state research projects to assist states with implementing Section 508.


Disability and Rehab Research The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) provides leadership and support for a comprehensive research program related to the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities.


The Information Technology Technical Assistance and Training Center (ITTATC). ITTATC is charged with providing accessibility training and technical assistance related to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and Section 255 of the Telecommunications Act. ITTATC is funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).
