An Earth Day Celebration and SF State Biology Alumni Event:

Living Downstream, A Film and Panel Discussion: “The Science of Our Changing Environment”

 

Living Downstream is a 2010 feature-length documentary based on the book by ecologist and cancer survivor Dr. Sandra Steingraber. This film follows Sandra during one year as she travels across North America investigating the links between cancer and environmental toxins.

Following the screening, a panel of SF State Biologists will lead a discussion, “The Science of Our Changing Environment”. Panelists include Drs. Jose De La Torre, John Hafernik, Gretchen LeBuhn, Leticia Marquez-Magana, Blake Riggs, Ravinder Sehgal, and Vance Vredenburg.

Alumni Pre-Concert Reception and a Performance by the
Dover String Quartet

Join us a special alumni reception followed by the last concert of this year's acclaimed Morrison Artist Series. First-prize winner of the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Dover Quartet is considered one of the most remarkably talented young string quartets ever to emerge at such a young age.

  • Mendelssohn (1809–1847): Quartet in E minor, Op. 44, No. 2 (1837)
  • Barber (1910–1981): String Quartet in B minor, Op. 11 (1936)
  • Intermission
  • Shostakovich (1906–1975): Quartet No. 3 in F major, Op. 73 (1946)

SF State Gators At The SF Zoo

Join the SF State Alumni Association for a rare, behind-the-scenes experience at the San Francisco Zoo with Vice President of Animal Care and SF State alum, David Bocian (MA '98).  This is also a great opportunity to meet SF State President Les Wong and hear the latest news about
SF State University.

As a special bonus, the evening's festivities will include the unique opportunity to get up close and feed the giraffes.

Afterwards, mingle with fellow alumni while enjoying drinks and
hors d'oeuvres.
