What are the basics of the project?

The former Library Annex I space has been designated for student-focused events and activities, and will be completed in the fall of 2013. The building will house a stage and assembly area, greenrooms, storage, restrooms, ticketing area, and administrative areas for building staff.


The project has been under development since Spring 2012, with input from vital campus departments and partners. The venue can support technical services, limited catering, and other basic amenities.


Why an events venue?

The changing demographics and increased residential community at SF State have brought forth a need for stronger student life programming and activities. These services will promote a more close-knit community, and provide exciting new outlets for student social, educational and professional development.

What is the capacity of the venue?

The Student Life Events Center has a maximum allowable occupancy of 1,200 standing, 900 theater & 420 banquet/conference. Additional (i.e. portable) restrooms may be required for larger events.


What kinds of events can the building support?

The Student Life Events Center can support a variety of events and activities, including concerts, special events, performances, expos, banquets, etc.


What are the hours of operation?

The Student Life Events Center will be open during normal University operating hours, weekdays from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. All after-hours and weekend events must be approved by the Dean of Students.

Where is The Student Life Events Center?

The Student Life Events Center is located at 1 North State Drive, near the intersection of Winston Ave. & Lake Merced Blvd. To get to The Student Life Events Center from the main campus, head Northwest through the Parking Garage behind the Towers Residence Hall, and continue past the Corp. Yard & Baseball field.


When will it be officially open?

The Student Life Events Center is scheduled for a soft opening in mid-April, 2013, and will be fully operational in the spring 2014 semester.


Can I reserve the space?
