Specific Requirements: Students in CSU-approved Study Abroad programs may complete their Segment III requirements while they gain a structured and interdisciplinary understanding of their host country. Courses used to meet Segment III requirements through Study Abroad must be approved before the student leaves SFSU by a faculty advisor assigned by the Office of International Programs, ADM 450, and the Study Abroad cluster coordinator.
Students must complete a minimum of 9 units, including at least three courses taken during Study Abroad. Select one or two courses from Category A, one or two courses from Category B, and one course from Category C. At least one course from categories A and B must focus centrally on issues of cultural, ethnic, or social diversity. Courses that combine the approach of two or more disciplines are appropriate, as are ethnic studies courses.
